The Global Compact is a seemingly harmless UN document that was approved by more than 150 countries at the Intergovernmental Conference in Marrakech on December 10 and 11, 2018. The EU and all member states have supported the agreement since 2016. But recently, many European leaders have criticized it. He claims to violate national sovereignty and prevent countries from controlling their borders.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"DHcWmd\">The agreement has been the subject of political attention, parliamentary debates and even a government crisis. Many EU countries have chosen not to participate in the decisions of the Marrakech Intergovernmental Conference and at least seven countries have declared that they will not support the United Nations General Assembly.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"DHcWmd\">How did we get the EU member states to withdraw from the Global Compact? Can the EU do something about it? To answer these questions, this article describes the Pact and shows that all EU members were initially supported, but some EU countries later rejected it. While this disagreement may violate EU law, the EU cannot currently do anything at the legal or political level: The rejection of the agreement pursues propaganda goals that cannot be said.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"oSioSc\">\n<div id=\"tw-target\">\n<div id=\"kAz1tf\" class=\"g9WsWb\">\n<div id=\"tw-target-rmn-container\" class=\"tw-ta-container hide-focus-ring tw-nfl\">\n<pre id=\"tw-target-rmn\" class=\"tw-data-placeholder tw-text-small tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"\"><\/pre>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Global Compact for safe, orderly and regular migration (hereinafter: Global Compact) has become the subject of heated discussions in Europe.
