Obama praises his pro-abortion friends in video tribute

By Dave Andrusko

Take a guess. Who said this last night and to whom?

“I couldn’t be prouder of the work each of you is doing to make this world a fairer and more just place for all Americans. And I look forward to continuing that work with you in the years ahead.”

Pro-abortion President Barack Obama

Just guessing I suspect nobody would instantly think this was the conclusion to a tribute to NARAL Pro-Choice America from NARAL’s comrade-in-arms, President Barack Obama. But that’s where it appeared—part of a video pat on the back for NARAL  and especially to outgoing president Nancy Keenan [“who’s been a friend and counselor to me and my administration”] and new president Ilyse Hogue [“who we know will continue Nancy’s legacy of outstanding leadership of this organization”].

For us there are two interesting elements in news coverage of NARAL’s annual dinner. First, former Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter was the keynote speaker. She offered the crowd plenty of red meat lines, including a thorough trashing of pro-life Republicans, including Mitt Romney, who lost last November. Understandable: the temptation to gloat is irresistible.

Ilyse Hogue

Second, and more important, once again a long-suppressed truth made its way into a news story. “Late last month, hundreds of thousands of anti-abortion-rights activists marked the Roe v. Wade anniversary by demonstrating in front of the Supreme Court and on the National Mall at the annual ‘March for Life,’” reported the Washington Post’s Felicia Sonmez. Not “thousands” or “tens of thousands” but “hundreds of thousands.”

The President began his video tribute by celebrating 40 years of Roe v. Wade (and its 55 million dead babies) and by reaffirming a woman’s “right to reproductive freedom.” He is steadfast in his support of abortion on demand, as is NARAL.

We are no less resolute that we will hem in and curtail the abortion “liberty” until the day full legal protection is returned to unborn babies.
